Welcome to Science Is Fun:)
My name is Linda C. Smith and I am excited to be teaching 7th Grade, 7th Grade Accelerated and 8th Grade Science this year at YMS. I have three children. Ben is radiology resident in Columbus, OH with Ohio State University Hospital. Daniel is a second year MD/PhD student at Indiana University. Daniel and his wife Emily live in Indianapolis. Ellie is a third grade teacher at St. Lawrence Catholic School in Muncie, IN. My husband, Roger, is a veterinarian at Animal Medical Center in Yorktown.
I am in my second year of a PhD program through Texas Tech University in Curriculum and Instruction in STEM. Don't worry, I'm not leaving YMS as my classroom will be my laboratory. I love teaching middle school science. For those of you that know me you know I have a love of Disney and all things Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney and his desire to always be challenged and work hard is one of my biggest heroes. One of the things that is great about teaching in the middle school is the fact that students still like to have fun and are still curious and want to figure out why things work and how they work. Teaching science at Yorktown Middle School allows me the opportunity to foster that curiosity and to have fun learning with your kids at the same time.
