Welcome to Science Is Fun:)
My name is Linda C. Smith and I am excited to be teaching 7th Grade, 7th Grade Accelerated and 8th Grade Science this year at YMS. I have three children. Ben is in his final year as a medical student at Indiana University Medical School in Indianapolis. Daniel is a Senior Biochemistry major at Ball State and will be starting an MD/PhD program next fall. Ellie is a Senior at Ball State studying to become an elementary teacher following in her Mom's footsteps. She is currently student teaching in New Castle. My husband, Roger, is a veterinarian at Animal Medical Center in Yorktown.
This summer I will begin an exciting new adventure in my teaching career as I pursue my doctorate in STEM education. Don't worry, I'm not leaving YMS as my classroom will be my laboratory. I love teaching middle school science. For those of you that know me you know I have a not so secret love of Disney and all things Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney and his desire to always be challenged and work hard is one of my biggest heroes. One of the things that is great about teaching in the middle school is the fact that students still like to have fun and are still curious and want to figure out why things work and how they work. Teaching science at Yorktown Middle School allows me the opportunity to foster that curiosity and to have fun learning with your kids at the same time.
